A slip of the tongue has triggered sharp attacks on Hwang Kyo-ahn, chairman of the opposition Liberty Korea Party. In a speech at a university last week, he said his son — a graduate of Yonsei University — was able to find a job at a large company a few years ago despite poor grades in college largely because he was an editor at his university’s English-language newspaper. Koreans in their 20s and 30s have serious trouble finding jobs these days. Hwang immediately apologized on Facebook.
