The 14th Seoul International Drama Awards will be held at the Grand Peace Hall at Kyung Hee University in eastern Seoul on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m, organizers announced at a press conference held in central Seoul on Thursday.
At the press conference, 28 nominees were unveiled. Sixteen judges participated in selecting the nominees out of a pool of 270 productions that were submitted to the awards.
Out of 28 nominated works from around the world, two were local dramas: MBC’s “Special Labor Inspector, Mr. Jo” and KBS’s “To Jenny.”
“I was especially delighted to see Chinese dramas submitted to the event after a three-year hiatus,” commented actor Yoo Dong-geun, one of the judges. “While I’m happy to indirectly experience the cultures in each of the dramas, I was also astonished at the high-quality works from other countries. I hope that [the event] provides local drama organizers the opportunity to expand their horizons.”
