Shopping carts are lined up in front of a supermarket in Seoul on Sunday. As local supermarket operators Emart and Lotte Mart post operating losses in the second quarter this year, controversies surrounding the fairness of retail industry regulations have surfaced again. Under regulations intended to help smaller stores stay afloat, supermarkets must close on two Sundays a month.
