Lee Jong-hyuk to star in ‘Treadstone’

Actor Lee Jong-hyuk will make his Hollywood debut in upcoming U.S. drama series “Treadstone,” joining fellow Korean Han Hyo-joo in the cast.

“Treadstone” is a spin-off of the “Bourne” series created by author Robert Ludlum. His “Bourne” trilogy (1980-1990) has previously led to the production of films like “The Bourne Identity” (2002), with Matt Damon portraying protagonist Jason Bourne, a CIA assassin suffering from memory loss.

While “Treadstone” will keep the action and thrill of “Bourne,” the show will be putting the spotlight on Operation Treadstone, a top secret CIA program introduced in the “Bourne” series.

The nature of Lee’s character in the show has yet to be revealed. Han made headlines earlier in January after it was confirmed that she would be joining “Treadstone” as a character who struggles to protect her family after she finds out a secret about herself.

“Treadstone” is set to premiere this October on the USA Network, whose parent organization is NBCUniversal.

Lee debuted as an actor in 1997 on the stage. He has since appeared in major films and drama series, including “Once Upon a Time in High School” (2004) and “A Gentleman’s Dignity” (2012).
