Filipino film fest opens up in Seoul
The Korea Pinoy International Film Festival (Kpiff) opened its doors today and runs until Sunday at the Arirang Cine Center, northern Seoul.
The event is the first Filipino international film festival to be hosted in Korea. It was organized to celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Korea.
Under the theme of migration, 28 short and feature films will be screened at the center, and they are divided into the following categories: feature films, short film selection, directors showcase, and best of Mapua.
Filipino film “The Secret of Philippine Peso” was selected to open the festival. The story covers the strength of familial love in the midst of hardships. Local documentary drama film “The Bus” will wrap up the three-day event. The film is about a Korean doctor who decides to spend his remaining life in the Philippines after finding out that he is diagnosed with cancer. As he treats sick children who are too poor to get medical help, his perspective on life changes.
On the last day of the event, festivalgoers will be able to enjoy an array of Filipino food and performances prepared by the Pinoy Artists in Korea.
