CGV to screen River Phoenix films
Theater chain CGV will play films featuring River Phoenix on the big screen beginning next Thursday, in memory of the late actor.
Phoenix, the elder brother of “Joker” star Joaquin Phoenix, died at 23 after building a career as a child actor.
CGV will be screening two of his most famous works at 19 CGV Arthouse, its indie theater line, locations from Oct. 24 to Nov. 6. “Stand by Me” (1986) is a coming-of-age story based on a Stephen King novella directed by Rob Reiner that went on to be nominated for two Golden Globes and an Oscar in 1987. The other film, “My Own Private Idaho” (1991), was directed by Gus Van Sant and features Phoenix as a gay character along with Keanu Reeves. Phoenix won several awards for his performance in the film.
Tickets for the screenings are priced at 15,000 won each.
