The exhibition kicked off Wednesday in Dusseldorf, Germany, and will run until Oct. 23. The company said it hopes to find potential customers for its packaging and automotive products.
SK Global Chemical has been investing in those solutions to create future growth engines.
Its exhibition booths feature two sections, one focused on its packaging materials and the other on eco-friendly and ultra-light automotive materials.
Major products being introduced at the packaging booth are Nexlene, a high-performance polyethylene product, and Primacor and Saran, both high value-added packaging materials.
To enhance its packaging business portfolio, the company has made a number of acquisitions. It purchased Dow Chemical’s polyvinylidene chloride business unit as well as its ethylene acrylic acid business unit. Tuesday, it said it acquired the functional polyolefins business of French chemical firm Arkema.
At the automotive booth, the company will exhibit plastic materials that can contribute to the fuel efficiency of a car.
“We are doing our best to secure a competitive portfolio for our packaging and automotive products by various means including acquisitions,” said Na Kyung-soo, CEO of SK Global Chemical. “As markets for the products are expected to grow, we will focus our efforts to become major players in those businesses.”
