Hyundai Heavy Industries Group said Wednesday it has sought the approval of the antitrust authority of the European Union for its takeover of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.
The proposed merger is subject to review by multiple antitrust authorities as they determine whether the deal harms the market.
The antitrust authority of Kazakhstan approved of the takeover last month.
The transaction is also under review by Korea’s Fair Trade Commission as well as by authorities in China, Japan and Singapore.
