Uzbek man arrested after stabbing in Incheon

A 34-year-old man from Uzbekistan was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing another Uzbek man in his 30s on Monday, according to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Precinct.

The Uzbek man is being investigated for allegedly having stabbed his acquaintance on the street at around 1 a.m. on Monday in Yeonsu District, Incheon. The victim was identified as a 31-year-old man also from Uzbekistan.

According to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Precinct, the two men had met for drinks.

A quarrel broke out between the two, and the older Uzbek man stole a knife from a nearby supermarket and stabbed the victim several times on the street.

The owner of the supermarket immediately notified the police that his store had been robbed, and the police arrested the suspect after arriving on the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance and is being treated for serious injuries. He is said to be in critical condition, according to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Precinct.

The police also said they will continue their investigation on the man as soon as an interpreter arrives at the police station.

“We plan to request an arrest warrant and investigate him, including what his motive for the crime was,” an official from the Incheon Yeonsu Police Precinct said on Monday.
