Korean films return to FlorenceThe 18th Florence-Korea Film Fest will take place at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence, Italy, from Feb. 19 to 27.
The annual Korean film festival has been organized by the Taegukgi Toscana Korea Association and supported by the local governments of Tuscany and Florence and the Korean Film Council.
The event will showcase 60 films, opening with investigative thriller “Black Money” (2019) and closing with another thriller, about a mother tracing the whereabouts of her lost son years after his disappearance, “Bring Me Home” (2019). Films with stories based on Korean history, such as “The Battleship Island” (2017) and “Malmoe: The Secret Mission” (2019), will also be included.
Additionally, 20 virtual reality movies will be screened.
Actor Cho Jin-woong of “Black Money” will travel to Florence to appear as a special guest of the festival.
“The Florence-Korea Film Fest is a place where Korean and Italian people share ideas and culture,” Jang Eun-young, vice chair of the Taegukgi Toscana Korea Association told Yonhap News on Thursday. “We would like to offer a wide range of movies from Korea so that people in Italy can be exposed to more than the popular film ‘Parasite.’”
