Coupang resumed the operation of its Deokpyeong distribution center in Icheon, Gyeonggi, after employees who underwent Covid-19 testing were confirmed to be negative.

The e-commerce operator announced on Saturday that employees who had close contact with a Covid-19 patient underwent testing and all the results were negative. It refused to disclose the total number of people working at the Deokpyeong distribution center.

After an employee working at the distribution center was confirmed to be a Covid-19 patient on June 24, Coupang shut the center.

It was the third distribution center the company shut due to an employee testing positive, after closures in both Bucheon and Goyang in Gyeonggi.

Coupang said it adopted a QR code system that monitors when employees enter and exit distribution centers.

On Saturday, Emart24 announced a distribution center that handles the convenience store franchise’s products in Yongin, Gyeonggi, had to shut after a worker at the center tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday evening.

Emart24 said a total of 84 people work at the center.

Another nearby Emart24 distribution center, where 50 people work, was also shut down as part of a preventive effort.
