LG Chem starts mentorship program for students

LG Chem will launch a mentorship program focused on science and the environment for elementary and middle school students in the country, the company said Tuesday.

It will accept applications from elementary and middle school students by Dec. 21 to select 100 students to participate in the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative on sustainability.

From January to March, the "Like Green mentorship program" will be run jointly with local nonprofit organization Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI). The online program will include education on topics like global warming, recycling, energy and next-generation technology like artificial intelligence.

The students will be divided into five groups, each led by college student mentors. The team of mentors was selected after applications were received in November and has received training from industry experts.

This is the first year for the Like Green mentorship program, and it will continue to select classes of students in the future, according to LG Chem.
