Kumho Tire rolls out first new tire in three years

Kumho Tire is rolling out a premium tire dubbed My First Premium Solus TA51 in the Korean market, the tire maker's first new tire in three years.

The Solus TA51 is an all-season tire that features tread patterns and rubber compounds suitable for use in wet conditions and a wide range of hot and cold temperatures, according to Kumho Tire on Monday.

The tire was designed to reduce noise and to offer better grip and more control in snow and on slippery roads in winter. Tire wear monitoring technology has been applied so that drivers can track the tire's condition and know when to change it.

The tire comes in 34 different models, ranging from 16 inches to 19 inches in size.

“The Solus TA51 is the result of the technological integration [that Kumho Tire has acquired for 60 years],” Kim Sang-yub, head of the sales and marketing division at Kumho Tire, said in Monday's report. “Kumho Tire, the No. 1 tire maker in Korea in terms of sales, will try harder to make our new Solus TA51 a leading product in the domestic tire market.”
