The Korean company said Wednesday that its ECSTA HS52 tire came in third in the test by Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) among 16 competitors, following No. 1 Continental and No. 2 Michelin.
The test evaluates tires in two key areas: driving safety, which includes wet and dry road performance, and environmental balance covering mileage, wear resistance, efficiency, noise levels and sustainability.
With a range covering sizes to fit both sedans and sports models, the ECSTA HS52’s tread features a robust block pattern which allows the tire to maintain consistently high levels of grip whilst delivering a quiet, smooth, and comfortable ride, it said.
In addition, the tire’s rigid, powerful shoulder blocks enhance steering performance for maximum driving safety.
"This outstanding test result from an organization with significant influence in Europe and around the world demonstrates the technological prowess of Kumho Tire," said Song Seong-hak, senior vice president at Kumho Tire.
"It also serves as a testament to our competitiveness in Korea and beyond. We will continue to enhance our R&D activities to strengthen Kumho’s position as a trusted brand in the marketplace.”
The tire was also ranked second in a recent braking safety test conducted by German auto magazine Auto Bild.
