Game developer Krafton will release its first short film "Ground Zero" on June 24 on YouTube, based off of the storyline of its famed first-person shooting game (FPS) PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).
The film will be led by actor Ma Dong-seok who will take on the character Ma Gang-jae, a prisoner locked up in 1983. Inmates try to take him down in hopes of a reward, and the guards watch their every move through surveillance cameras.
"The film will be available for free for anyone, so we hope this will bring joy to both film fans and PUBG fans who are thirsty for new content," Krafton said.
Krafton recently filed for a massive IPO that would make it the most valuable Korean game company and the 12th largest listed company in the country.
The offering price will be fixed and announced on July 12. Public subscriptions will take place for two days from July 14.
