The government will hold a five-day K-comics and K-story festival in Los Angeles from July 24 to 28.

Titled "K-story&comics in America," the festival will exhibit Korean comics, webtoons and other story genres for attendees and also provide a business-to-business matching session for Korean companies.

Co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca), the event will take place at the AC Hotel in Los Angeles as part of the government's comics and webtoon promotion strategy proposed in January this year. It will also be held in tandem with CJ ENM's overseas K-culture promotion festival, KCON LA 2024, set to take place from July 26 to 28.

Fourteen Korean comics and story companies will display some 50 works. They will also participate in one-on-one business sessions with local buyers, supported by Kocca. The companies will also get to pitch their ideas in a presentation session attended by 80 buyers from the local industry, according to Kocca.

The exhibition space will be divided into four zones featuring popular Korean comics and webtoons. Hands-on experiences will also be available, such as making photo cards, photo zones and games.

The "K-story&comics in America" festival will later be expanded to Japan and Southeast Asian countries, Kocca said.
