NCsoft’s online game Throne and Liberty logged more than 60,000 concurrent users on the debut of its global open beta test on Thursday, according to the Korean game publisher Friday.

Throne and Liberty (TL) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by NCsoft for PC and consoles which recorded 61,154 concurrent users on Steam for the open beta test, the highest number of users accumulated for the game genre.

The game will be globally distributed through Amazon Games on Sept. 17.

NCsoft plans to apply the feedback gained from the test for the game’s official launch.

The Open Beta will continue through next Tuesday in Amazon Games’ service regions, including North and South America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions including Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Players can participate via platforms on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S.

TL plans to adopt a more user-friendly approach in its business model, allowing a wider range of users to access the battle pass tracks, which are set of in-game items that users can attain once they achieve a particular milestone in game stages.

NCsoft says that both domestic and international TL players will be able to purchase battle pass logs with the in-game currency, Lucent. Previously, premium passes could only be purchased via cash, blocking its access for free-to-play players.

The update will be made available in Korea on Aug. 21 and will be included in the game's global release.
