Singer Sean raises 800 million won for Habitat for Humanity Korea
Singer Sean raised 800 million won ($687,000) after finishing the “2021 Virtual 815 Run” marathon and donated it to housing nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity Korea, Sean’s agency YG Entertainment said Monday.
“2021 Virtual 815 Run” was an online donation campaign hosted by Habitat for Humanity Korea that took place Sunday to celebrate Liberation Day with the message “It’s going to be great, Korea!” This year marked the event’s second anniversary.
The money raised this year will be used for housing improvement projects for the descendants of independence patriots.
Sean finished 81.5 kilometers (50.6 miles) in seven hours 50 minutes 56 seconds, eight minutes faster than last year.
The event had about 3,000 participants along including public figures like singer-and-actor Lim Si-wan, retired soccer player Lee Young-pyo and modern pentathlete Jun Woong-tae.
Last year’s campaign raised 320 million won.
