'Kind Neighbors'

[ARKO ART CENTER]

[ARKO ART CENTER]

Hwang Soyoon, the frontwoman of Korean indie rock band SE SO NEON, recites a writing by artist Nam June Paik (1932-2006), dubbed the founder of video art, as part of “Kind Neighbors,” a special online art project to provide alternative museum programs during the pandemic. The project has been organized by three Korean art museums — Arko Art Center, Art Sonje Center and Nam June Paik Art Center — and sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The opening event that includes recitals of artists’ texts by K-pop musicians including Hwang and discussions between artists and critics, will be streamed online through the “Kind Neighbors” website (www.kindneighbors.art) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Korean and English subtitles and sign language will be provided.
