Netflix spills some details on hotly anticipated new reality show

Netflix held an online press conference on Wednesday to introduce its highly anticipated new reality show, “New World,” starring Lee Seung-gi, Eun Ji-won, Park Na-rae, Kim Hee-chul, Cho Bo-ah and Kai.

According to Netflix, “New World” is an “unscripted series that tells the story of unexpected events that take place in a utopia full of survival missions, competitions, and twists through a new type of simulation.”

During the press conference, Lee introduced the program in more detail.

“The members live in this new world called Shinsegae for six days. It is a place where each member’s desires are realized. There’s a virtual currency of its own, and several missions to accomplish,” Lee said. “The series is not a typical reality show. It’s unforeseen and we are very excited to take part.”

Eun also said the new series will especially appeal to those who like playing online games.

“Realizing the things you’ve dreamed of in a virtual world and playing games with others is really exciting,” said Eun.

The directors of the new series are Cho Hyo-jin and Go Min-seok.

Ko said that the new series takes place on an island in an attempt to offer a “mysterious and new feeling, trying to depict a place that is far from the real world.”

The first episode is set to air on Nov. 20.
