Korea will limit private gatherings to four people nationwide and restore a nighttime curfew on restaurants and many other businesses starting Saturday, putting a pause on the living with Covid-19 scheme.

정부는 토요일부터 전국적으로 사적모임을 4인까지로 제한하고, 식당 등 다중이용시설 야간 영업시간을 다시 제한했다. 단계적 일상회복 정책을 일단 중단한 것이다.

Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum announced Thursday that the government is restoring its stricter social distancing measures including limiting operating hours to 9 p.m. for restaurants and cafes and 10 p.m. for many other businesses considered less risky, including movie theaters.

김부겸 총리는 목요일 식당과 카페 영업시간을 오후 9시까지로, 영화관 등 상대적으로 위험도가 낮은 다중이용시설은 오후 10시까지로 제한하는 사회적 거리두기 강화 방안을 발표했다.

The renewed strict social distancing measures come 45 days after easing them in favor of the government’s scheme for a phased return to normalcy, and will be implemented from Saturday to Jan. 2, covering the Christmas and New Year's holiday period.

normalcy: 정상

단계적 일상회복을 시행한 지 45일만에 고강도 사회적 거리두기 방역대책으로 다시 되돌아간 것이다. 새 방역대책은 12월 18일부터 1월 2일까지 시행되는데, 크리스마스와 새해 휴일이 이 기간에 포함된다.

Groups to restaurants and cafes will be restricted to a maximum of four vaccinated people. Unvaccinated persons will either have to dine alone or opt for take-out or delivery. Since Dec. 6, private gatherings have been limited to six people in the Seoul metropolitan area and eight elsewhere.

식당과 카페에서는 최대 백신접종 완료자 4명까지만 사적 모임을 할 수 있다. 백신 미접종자는 혼자 식사를 하든지 포장이나 배달 음식을 먹어야 한다. 12월 6일부터 수도권에서는 6명까지, 그 외 지역에서는 8명까지 사적 모임을 할 수 있었다.

The limit previously was 10 in greater Seoul and 12 elsewhere when the government initially announced the phased easing of social distancing measures in early November. One unvaccinated person is currently allowed in group gatherings at restaurants and cafes.

11월초에 정부가 사회적 거리두기 단계적 완화 방침을 발표했을 때는 수도권은 10명까지, 그 외 지역은 12명까지 사적 모임이 가능했었다. 현재는 백신 미접종자 1명까지는 식당이나 카페에 일행으로 출입 가능하다.
