Hyundai Glovis announced Wednesday it will begin to install fire prevention systems in its car carrier vessels.

The company said it will equip its car carriers with multiple fire blankets that are big enough to cover large SUV vehicles.

Vessels will be equipped with water mist lances, or metal nozzles that can be inserted through small holes to put out fires in small or enclosed areas.

Heat and smoke detectors will also be installed and the company will conduct fire drills at least twice a year starting today.

All 90 auto shipment vessels owned by Hyundai Glovis will have the fire prevention systems installed by end of this year.

Hyundai Glovis has been focusing on shipping cars and was responsible for 45 percent of global electric vehicle shipments last year.

Last December, it signed a 500-billion-won ($413 million) deal with an undisclosed automaker to ship the company’s cars from a manufacturing plant in China to Europe between January to December this year.
