Standard Chartered Bank Korea announced that it will hold a promotional event that provides new bank customers subscribing to its “My Signature Account” with an annual pre-tax interest rate of 2 percent on savings. The event will last until May 31.

My Signature Account is a current account that specializes in surplus fund management as it not only allows customers to freely deposit money in or withdraw it from a bank but also offers high interest. The account has gained popularity with stable and high-interest rates since its launch in July 2021 in spite of volatile market conditions.

During the event, account holders whose banking transactions history amounts to more than 100 million won ($78,895) two months after they place a deposit are eligible for a maximum interest rate of 1.7 percent. Customers who made their first transaction at the bank will be given an additional 0.3, gaining a total of 2 percent. The special interest rate applies for a maximum of 1 billion won during three months.

Among the accounts subject to the event, a lottery will also be held for customers with a balance of more than 100 million won as of the end of June 2022. A total of 170 customers will win various prizes including a massage chair and air purifiers.

“More and more customers are looking for slightly different products depending on the use and holding period of residual funds during a period of rising interest rates,” said an official at Standard Chartered Bank Korea, adding “along with My Signature Account, there are various types of high-interest parking accounts that suit customers’ tastes.”
