Comedian Shin Dong-yup's father passed away on Tuesday, according to his agency SM C&C.

Because of the funeral, the pre-recording of the SBS reality show "My Ugly Duckling" has been postponed.

Shin has previously talked fondly about his father in TV appearances. During an episode of the SBS program "With God" in April 2021, Shin said that his father was recovering from cancer surgery at a hospital. He added that because of Covid-19, he hadn't been able to visit his father at the hospital for the past year.

During an episode of "Immortal Songs" in February last year, he teared up after listening to a song about fatherhood. "I talked to my father before coming here today," said Shin during the episode. "Listening to this song made me think about him and my mother who passed away as well."

Shin debuted as a comedian in 1991 and has hosted some 40 shows. He is currently the host of SBS's "Animal Farm," KBS's "Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend," SBS's "My Little Old Boy," tvN's "Amazing Saturday," MBC's "True Story," TV Chosun's "Going to the End" and TV Chosun's "We Got Divorced."
