Highlight's Son Dong-woon to star in upcoming SBS drama 'Today’s Webtoon'

Son Dong-woon of boy band Highlight will debut as an actor in upcoming SBS drama series “Today’s Webtoon” (translated).

“Son will appear in ‘Today’s Webtoon,' which will begin airing from July 29, as the character Oh Yoon,” Around Us Entertainment said.

The series is a coming-of-age story about a former judo player named On Ma-eum (played by Kim Se-jeong) who starts working at a webtoon company as an editor. The series is expected to draw on realistic situations of office workers and the fast-paced life of webtoon creators.

The series is adapted from a Japanese manga series titled "Juhan Shuttai!" which was also made into a Japanese drama in 2016.

The character that Son portrays is a handsome webtoonist who rises to stardom through his comical webtoon and television exposure. Oh Yoon is expected to form a variety of relationships with the editors at the webtoon company Neon.

Son will star alongside Kim Se-jeong, Nam Yoon-su and Choi Daniel.

Meanwhile, Son released his second EP “Happy Birthday” on Monday to mark his 32nd birthday. The EP included songs that he composed and arranged the melodies to such as the lead track “Today’s Weather.”
