Jeonghan of Seventeen received surgery for his elbow earlier this week, the boy band's agency Pledis Entertainment said Friday.
The agency posted an announcement to fan community platform Weverse, saying that Jeonghan visited a hospital due to elbow pain and had surgery on Wednesday morning.
“Jeonghan has been receiving shots to relieve inflammation and damage of the outer tendon area of his right elbow,” Pledis said, “but recently his lateral epicondylitis and tendon damage had worsened.”
Jeonghan’s surgery was successful and he is currently focusing on recovery.
“Jeonghan will temporarily have a cast to protect the area and will also wear a brace as well,” Pledis continued.
“Jeonghan insisted that he would take part in all upcoming plans for the band, but medical staff recommend that he put his recovery first. Therefore, Jeonghan will take part in his schedules in a flexible manner.”
Jeonghan is expected to take part in Seventeen’s world tour “Seventeen World Tour [Be The Sun]," which kicks off later this month starting in Seoul, “as long as he doesn’t overdo himself,” Pledis said.
