Ken Rhee, a Korean YouTuber and former Korean Navy special forces officer who went to Ukraine in March to fight Russia, uploaded a new video to his YouTube channel Rokseal on June 18 showing Rhee and other members of the Ukrainian Foreign Legion inside a vehicle as they work to avoid Russian Forces.

The 20-minute video appears to show Rhee and his team members trying to evacuate a wounded soldier after a reconnaissance mission. The footage was taken sometime in April and concludes with the soldiers deserting the vehicle because of a flat tire.

The video goes on to feature an interview conducted in Ukraine with musician Solnamoo Song. Rhee explains the extent of the operations in detail and his insights into the war.

Due to his background and skill set, Rhee is said to have immediately obtained a leadership position in the Ukrainian military where he was able to handpick his team members. Rhee shares that his mission consists of scouting specific areas, not offensive operations.

Rhee also explains in the video that there was an incident during a mission in April where they were hit by artillery fire. The shockwave of the strike threw Rhee out of the hangar. Rhee suspects that the muddy ground kept the blast suppressed, allowing all members of Rhee’s team to survive.

Rhee returned to Korea on May 27 because of injuries sustained to his ACL. Rhee said he hopes to recover within three months and continue his efforts to help the war in Ukraine.

Earlier this month Rhee was sent to be prosecuted by the International Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for violating the travel ban to Ukraine. The case was then sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. Rhee potentially faces up to a year in prison or a 10 million won ($7,700) fine for defying local passport laws.
