At a lawmakers’ meeting of the People Power Party (PPP) on Monday, the party decided to define its current situation as an emergency, declaring that it would revert to its emergency response committee system.

“We gathered the opinions of lawmakers on whether the party is in an emergency due to the resignation of council members,” said Yang Kum-hee, the PPP’s floor spokesperson. “All but a few lawmakers agreed that it is an emergency.”

According to Article 96 of the party constitution, if an emergency occurs within the party, an emergency committee can be formed for the stable operation of the party.

At the Monday meeting, 89 members of the PPP attended, and only one lawmaker opposed the declaration of the emergency situation, according to Yang.
