'Pink Venom' by Blackpink leads Spotify's Global Top Songs chart for second day
Girl group Blackpink’s latest song “Pink Venom” topped music streaming platform Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart two days in a row, a first for a K-pop artist.
According to YG Entertainment on Monday, “Pink Venom” hit 6,710,743 streams on Sunday and 7,937,036 on Saturday.
“While it showed a slight decline compared to the first day, ‘Pink Venom’ has nonetheless been streamed more than any song released by a female artist this year,” said YG. “Blackpink is the first K-pop artist to take the No. 1 spot on this chart for two consecutive days.”
The number of streams on Spotify is also reflected on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.
“Pink Venom,” a pre-release track from Blackpink’s upcoming second full-length album “Born Pink,” dropped on Aug. 19. Upon release, it topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in 74 nations including the United States and Britain.
