Department store sales see sharpest rise in six months in July
Sales of department stores in Korea rose over 30 percent in July, according to data released by the Ministry of Trade Tuesday.
Sales rose 31.6 percent in July compared to the previous month, largely due to a surge in visitors and openings of new department stores. This is the sharpest rise in six months, after a 37.2 percent increase in January.
By category, spending on kids and sports items rose 48.5 percent, women’s attire 41.3 percent and international designer brands 29.1 percent.
