Temporary screening facilities for Covid-19 will close and limit operating hours as Typhoon Hinnamnor approaches Korea.

A total of 33 facilities out of 68 in the country decided to either shut down or close early due to the typhoon on Monday.

“Temporary screening facilities are temporary testing centers built in the form of tents and containers at locations with many floating populations,” said the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on Monday.

“The typhoon may damage these facilities and affect the testing procedure.”

A total of 25 temporary screening centers in Seoul will operate from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and will be closed Tuesday, while three in Incheon will be closed from Monday through Wednesday.

The KDCA requests that people use other screening centers, such as public health centers and private clinics, if needed during the closures.

Typhoon Hinnamnor is expected to pass Jeju waters early Tuesday morning and near Busan hours later.
