A Korean television drama series and a Korean actor have been nominated for the International Emmy Awards this year.

The KBS historical drama “The King’s Affection” (2021), featuring Park Eun-bin and Rowoon as the leads, was named as a nominee for the telenovela category, while actor Lee Sun-kyun was nominated for the best performance by an actor award for the Apple+ series “Dr. Brain” (2022).

“The King’s Affection” is about a young princess, forcibly banished from court as a baby, who returns to play as a double to her twin brother after he dies in an accident. Park plays the main character, while Rowoon plays her love interest.

In “Dr. Brain,” veteran actor and member of the “Parasite” cast Lee plays a brain scientist who gets involved in a mystery after his family suffers from an incident.

Hosted each year by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Iatas), the International Emmy Awards are given to television programs in languages other than English made in countries outside the United States.

The awards ceremony for the International Emmy Awards will be held in New York City on Nov. 22.
