Naver joins the global EV100 initiative

Naver has signed up for the EV100 initiative, a global initiative that aims to switch corporate fleets to electric vehicles (EV) by 2030, the company said Wednesday.

The news comes three months after the tech company joined the RE100 initiative in August, becoming the first local IT company to sign up for both initiatives.

By 2030, Naver aims to convert all of its corporate fleets to EVs and build EV charging stations in the company building. The company has so far built a total of 82 EV charging stations at the Naver Green Factory and Naver 1784, the two headquarter buildings of the company.

“We will reduce the direct emissions of greenhouse gases from car exhaust by expanding the number of environment-friendly vehicles,” said Lim Dong-a, executive officer of the environment in Naver.

“At the same time, we aim to become a company that leads global ESG initiatives by reducing indirect greenhouse gases from electricity through the expansion of renewable energies.”

EV100 is led by the international non-profit Climate Group.

A total of 128 companies have joined the initiative worldwide, including HP, DHL and IKEA. Naver is the third Korean company to sign up for the EV100, following LG Energy Solution and SK Networks.
