Soyeon, a former member of the girl group T-Ara, tied the knot with professional football player Cho Yu-min.

"We officially became a married couple on Nov. 1," she wrote on her Instagram page on Monday. She also posted a photo of herself and Cho showing off their wedding rings.

The two registered their marriage without the formalities of a wedding ceremony, Soyeon said, because Cho needs to focus on the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup, which begins on Nov. 20.

The two announced their engagement in January.

Thirty-four-year-old Soyeon debuted in 2009 as the lead vocalist in the girl group T-Ara. Soyeon left the group in 2017 when she did not re-sign with the group’s agency after T-Ara’s contract expired. She subsequently debuted as a solo artist in February last year with a song titled “Just The Same As Before.”

Though Soyeon and another member at the time, Boram, left T-Ara, the four remaining members — Jiyeon, Eunjung, Hyomin and Qri — are still active as a group.

Cho Yu-min is a 25-year-old midfielder in Korea’s K League 1 club Suwon FC. The national team that Cho was part of in 2018 won the gold medal during the 2018 Asian Games.
