Park Dong-won signs four-year deal with LG Twins
The LG Twins on Monday signed free agent catcher Park Dong-won on a four-year deal worth 6.5 billion won ($4.8 million).
Park, formerly of the Kia Tigers, will earn 4.5 billion won in annual salary with a 2-billion-won signing bonus.
Park debuted with the Kiwoom Heroes in 2009 and was traded to the Tigers last season. He is one of the top starting catchers in the KBO with a career 0.256 batting average, 114 home runs, 735 hits and 464 RBIs in 1,026 KBO games.
Park hit 18 home runs in the 2022 season with a 0.242 batting average and 57 RBIs.
"I thank the LG Twins for giving me this opportunity,” Park said. “We will do our best to lead the Twins to victory so that we can bring great joy to LG Twins fans."
Park replaces catcher Yoo Kang-nam, who also gained free agency this season and on Monday signed with the Lotte Giants.
“Park showed his value throughout this season in both offense and defense,” the LG Twins said in a statement announcing the signing. “We expect him to play a big role in helping the club achieve its goals.”
