President Yoon Suk-yeol called for more "mature" bilateral relations in his first summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Indonesia Tuesday.

윤석열 대통령은 화요일 인도네시아에서 시진핑 중국 국가주석과 첫 정상회담을 갖고 “성숙한” 양자관계를 요청했다.

"I hope we can work together for a mature South Korea-China relationship based on mutual respect," Yoon said in opening remarks at the beginning of the summit, noting that the two countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of bilateral ties this year.

윤 대통령은 모두 발언에서 올해 한중 수교 30주년을 축하한 사실을 언급하면서 “상호 존중에 기반한 성숙한 한중관계를 위해 협력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

It was the first summit between the leaders of South Korea and China in nearly three years.

한중 정상회담은 거의 3년 만에 처음 열렸다.

Yoon said that he looked forward to working together for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and promoting economic and people-topeople exchanges, as well as cooperation on global issues such as climate change and energy security.

윤 대통령은 경제 인적 교류를 포함해 한반도 역내 평화와 안정, 나아가 기후변화와 에너지 안보 같은 글로벌 이슈에 대해서도 협력해 나가기를 기대한다고 덧붙였다.

"Our government's diplomatic goal is to lead and contribute to freedom, peace and prosperity in East Asia and the international community," said Yoon. "China's role in the international community is important in the pursuit of freedom, peace and prosperity."

윤 대통령은 “우리 정부의 외교 목표는 동아시아와 국제사회의 자유, 평화, 번영을 주도하고 기여하는 것이며, 이를 추구하는데 중국의 역할이 중요하다.

He said, "South Korea must closely communicate and cooperate with China," stressing that is "in the common interest of both countries." Yoon also thanked Xi for expressing condolences after the recent Itaewon tragedy.

윤 대통령은 “한국과 중국의 긴밀한 소통과 협력이 양국의 공동이익에 부합한다”고 강조했다. 윤 대통령은 또한 이태원 참사에 애도를 표시해준 시 주석에게 감사하다고 말했다.
