CJ Logistics opened a representative office in Wroclaw, a southwestern city in Poland, to further expand its business in the European market.

It plans to tap Poland as its new “strategic base” in Europe, CJ Logistics said Tuesday, by providing integrated logistics services to Korean companies in Europe and to multinational companies.

The move comes as a growing number of Korean automobile, battery and electronic manufacturers enter the European country, and following strengthened economic ties between the two nations following agreements signed for defense and nuclear power exports.

Poland’s location, situated in central Europe, was also a plus for logistics business, the company added.

“Our entry into Poland is meaningful as it could serve as a foothold in our expansion into new logistics industry like defense materials, electric vehicle batteries and others,” said Byoung Kang, head of CJ Logistics' global division.

But it is not the first time CJ Logistics operated a business in Poland.

The logistics company delivered 10 K2 tanks to Poland in December 2022. It has also operated trains from Chengdu in China to Lodz in Poland via the Trans China Railway (TCR), which runs more than 4,000 kilometers (2,485 miles) between China and Europe.
