K-Culture Square

"Gwanghwa Sidae," the media artworks displayed at Gwanghawmun Square in central Seoul, may be rebranded to "K-Culture Square," as per the government's proposal on Wednesday. Gwanghwa Sidae, which translates to "Generation of Gwanghwa," encompasses the media art and installations placed in different spots in and around Gwanghwamun Square to emphasize the cultural and technological advancements made in Korea. "K-Culture Square," on the other hand, emphasizes the importance of Korean culture that has been widely exported to overseas markets as K-Culture. It will include three locations in Gwanghwamun: a K-Culture Museum at the Gyeongbokgung Station Seoul Metro Art Center; a K-Culture Attraction in the basement of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts; and a K-Culture Screen on the exterior wall of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History. It will also exhibit various media artworks, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency. [MINISTRY OF CULTURE, SPORTS AND TOURISM]
