GS Global rolled out its new 1-ton electric truck T4K equipped with a BYD battery to compete in the electric commercial vehicle market.
The commerce company held a showcase titled “More than OK, T4K” at an event hall in Jung District, central Seoul, on Thursday.
T4K is equipped with a BYD-made blade battery that is more space-efficient and more heat-resistant than the previous lithium iron phosphate battery, the company announced. GS Global signed a contract with the Chinese battery manufacturer in 2020 to become its official importer.
The collaboration electric truck is geared with an 82 kWh battery pack, the largest among 1-ton trucks in Korea, and a motor output of 140 kilowatts, also the best in performance.
T4K is the first commercial vehicle equipped with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that can use the remaining electricity in the car’s battery to charge other electronic devices. T4K has interior and exterior power outlets on its body, enabling the V2L to function both inside and outside the truck.
T4K’s price tag is 46.7 million won ($35,000), but it can be purchased for less than 20 million won if government subsidies for electric vehicles and small businesses are deducted.
“T4K is a 1-ton electric truck with an emphasis on utility, convenience and smartness,” said a spokesperson for GS Global’s mobility division.
GS Global plans to expand its electric commercial truck lineup by launching 3-ton and 5-ton electric trucks going forward, the spokesperson added.
