Ten more people test positive for mpox
Ten more people have been confirmed with mpox in Korea, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said Monday.
This raises the total number of infections to 30 in the country. Of the 10 newly infected patients, nine are Koreans living in Seoul, Gyeonggi and North Gyeongsang and one foreigner.
None of the individuals have left the country in the past three weeks.
All are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment. Skin lesions and rashes were the major symptoms.
The number of people who have made mpox-related reports surged from four in the first week of April to 102 last week.
A total of 43 people were tested for mpox last week.
“Mpox can be treated with current vaccines and treatments, so people with symptoms should visit nearby hospitals for a checkup,” said Jee Young-mee, KDCA commissioner.
