Naver Webtoon, Discord collaborate for 'Wumpus Wonderventures'

Naver Webtoon announced numerous collaborations with game-oriented social platform Discord, including an original webtoon series “Wumpus Wonderventures” that features Discord’s official mascot Wumpus, the Korean webtoon company said Thursday.

“Wumpus Wonderventures,” released Thursday in the United States, is a four-episode English webtoon based on Wumpus going on an adventure trying to save the universe.

Discord and Naver Webtoon are hosting multiple events to celebrate the collaboration, with Naver Webtoon providing one-month Discord Nitro subscriptions for all readers of “Wumpus Wonderventures” and Discord providing 10 Naver Webtoon coins, its in-app currency, to all existing Discord Nitro subscribers. Both offers will be available until June 8.

Discord Nitro is Discord’s premium subscription service priced at $9.99 per month, which offers perks like increased streaming quality, increased file upload size, the ability to create and use custom emojis and more.

Naver Webtoon also opened an official server on Discord, where fans and followers of the webtoon can communicate with each other and with the artists of the webtoon.

Discord, which first began in 2015 as a platform for gamers, provides instant messaging, voice and video calls and community services for its groups.
