Samsung, LG Electronics introduce latest display products at Infocomm

Samsung Electronics exhibited a large-sized micro LED named "The Wall for Virtual Production" which is a display designed specifically for virtual production studios.
Instead of adding computer-generated images on top of videos filmed in front of green screens, the latest display plays the computer-generated image in the background from the beginning.
Demand for such display technology has been on the rise as it cuts back on cost and time compared to the conventional method.
The Wall is released in P1.68 and P2.1, meaning the distance between the pixels is 1.68 millimeters and 2.1 millimeters. Its maximum brightness is 1,500 nit, the unit to measure the luminance of displays.
“It targets the filmmaking industry which is seeing increased demand for immersive content,” said Samsung Electronics.
The displays can be installed on the ceiling as well as around the walls of the studio with special molding technology.
The electronics company also unveiled an upgraded smart signage lineup which has gotten 40 percent slimmer compared to the previous version. The signage thickness measures 28.5 millimeters.
LG Electronics showcased a lineup of its LG Magnit display product, ranging in size from 3.5 meters (136 inches) when measured diagonally, a size suitable for home theaters, to 6.9 meters.
“LG Magnit not only provides bright and clear resolution, but it also offers wide viewing angles so that viewers can enjoy content from the side,” the company said.
A virtual studio version of the LG Magnit was also on display at the show which launched last month.
The studio version is added with a black coating on the surface for stronger durability.
Infocomm runs until Friday in Orlando, Florida.
