Seventeen earns back-to-back million-seller status in Japan with 'FML'

Boy band Seventeen earned yet another million-seller status with its latest Korean album "FML" on Aug. 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced Thursday.

The boy band received its first million-seller status of 2023 with its first Japanese EP "Dream" back in January, making Seventeen the first artist in Japan to receive million-seller status back-to-back in 2023, according to the boy band's agency Pledis Entertainment.

The agency added Seventeen also became the second foreign artist in Japan to have achieved two consecutive million-seller status in a single year after American singer Mariah Carey.

Seventeen will drop its first compilation album in Japan, "Always Yours," on Aug 23, which will feature 27 total tracks, including two new tracks, "Ima –Even if the world ends tomorrow-"and "Sara Sara."

The boy band is also set to kick off "Seventeen Tour 'Follow' to Japan," a "dome tour" across Japan, performing in Tokyo Dome, Belluna Dome in Saitama, Vantelin Dome Nagoya, Kyocera Dome Osaka and the Fukuoka Dome from Sept. 6 to Dec. 16.

Seventeen's 10th EP "FML," released on April 24, became the most-sold album in the first week of its release in the history of K-pop, with 4.55 million copies sold.
