Hyundai Motor Group donates $1.1M to aid Morocco and Libya

Hyundai Motor Group companies — Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai E&C and Hyundai engineering — are donating a combined $1.1 million to Morocco and Libya, which have been severely hit by the recent earthquake and flood.

The companies will offer the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) $500,000 for Morocco and $600,000 for Libya through the Korean Red Cross. The IFRC will use the donation for relief support and damage restoration in the countries.

Hyundai Motor will also work with local dealerships in earthquake struck Morocco for other supportive measures such as delivering school supplies, transporting therapists, helping with government-led funding programs and more. The carmaker is currently reducing equipment prices for cars damaged by the earthquake as well.

Kia will lend cars to nongovernment organizations free of charge and donate ambulances to the Moroccan government.

In Libya, where a deadly flooding hit the country’s eastern region, Hyundai Motor is offering discounts on auto parts and free inspections for damaged cars, and the local dealerships have delivered 30 truckloads of emergency relief supplies. Kia dealerships will also provide support with relief supplies and set up temporary shelters at the disaster site.
