Boy band Tempest dives 'Into The Tempest' with latest single

Tempest is marching forward to dive “Into The Tempest.”

“We’ve heard people worry about us [for having such a short break in between album releases], but we were not worried, and we are full of confidence. Our album embraces that spirit, and I’m proud of Tempest, who is restlessly marching forward,” the band's leader Lew said during a press showcase held Wednesday at the Roun Artium in Yangcheon District, western Seoul, ahead of the release of the boy band’s first single “Into The Tempest.”

Since the band’s debut in March 2022, Tempest has already released four EPs, with “Into the Tempest” coming only five months after the release of the band’s fourth EP, “The Calm Before The Storm.” While a five-month gap between album releases may not sound that short to some, for Tempest, who kicked off its first tour “2023 Tempest Show Con [T-OUR]” in Korea and Japan in August, with plans to continue the tour in Macau later this month, it is pretty fast paced.

“While I do think the time we had between comebacks is short, I think that in itself signifies our ambition, our desire to show everything we can,” Lew said.

Members Lew and Hwarang — credited by their real names Lee Eui-woong and Song Jae-won on the album — have also continued to take part in album production and lyric writing for all three songs in the "single."

“I tend to get inspiration by watching relevant films and listening to other songs,” Hwarang said. “For our lead track ‘Vroom Vroom,’ I got a lot of inspiration from ‘Ford v Ferrari,’ catching phrases like engine, hitting throttle, gear shifts and so on.”

“Vroom Vroom,” described as a “witty and energetic minimal-hip-hop and dance score,” features the members dressed up as racing drivers, singing to “go our own ways, ‘Like there is no brake.’”

“Our discography has always been somewhat autobiographical, and this album is no different,” Hyuk said. “We wanted to convey our honest thoughts, yet be relatable and comforting to the listeners.”

“Apart from the weekly music show appearances, we plan on traveling to Macau, Tokyo, Saudi Arabia and other places to see our fans. This year, we plan on getting close to our fans by relentlessly growing and constantly showing people the never-seen-before sides of us,” Hyeongseop said.
