Jung-woo, Han Ye-ri to be jurors for BIFF's Actor of Year, host closing ceremony

This year's BIFF, running from Oct. 4 to 13, will present the award to two up-and-coming actors, a man and a woman, who starred in the independent Korean films in the New Currents and Korean Cinema Today-Vision section.
The award, first established in 2014, aims to discover new actors with the potential to lead the Korean film industry in the future.
Jung-woo debuted in 2001 and made his breakthrough with the movie "Wish" (2009), winning him Best New Actor at the 47th Daejong Film Awards. He has since starred in numerous films, such as "The Himalayas" (2015) and "New Trial" (2016). He is also well-known for his leading role in "Reply 1994" (2013).
Han Ye-ri started her acting career with independent films and stepped into commercial cinema with the 2012 film "As One, "playing a North Korean table tennis player. She also starred in "Minari" (2020), an American drama film. It was nominated for six awards at the 93rd Academy Awards.
Jung-woo and Han Ye-ri will present the award with a cash prize of 5 million won ($3,746). They will also host the festival's closing ceremony.
The 28th BIFF will open on Oct. 4 with Song Kang-ho, a veteran actor known for "Parasite" (2019), hosting the opening ceremony. It will screen 269 films and feature speaker events, greetings, hand-printing ceremonies and more.
