Coupang to hire Korean to English translators, interpreters

Coupang is hiring some 30 Korean to English translators and interpreters, the retail giant said Thursday.

The openings are regular positions and not freelance or contract worker positions, the company said in a press release.

Coupang said degrees in Korean to English translation or interpretation are not a must, and it is looking for both entry-level translators and experienced translators. The positions are also open to non-Korean nationals.

The New York-listed company added that it has become more diverse in recent years as it has rapidly expanded its business. Apart from its main e-commerce business, the company has also launched a food delivery business, Coupang Eats and a streaming service, Coupang Play.

“Our translators and interpreters will be able to experience various fields of business such as artificial intelligence and [streaming] services as well as retail and logistics,” the company said.

Applicants will go through an application review, a phone interview, a practical assessment and a video interview at the end.

All interviews and assessments will be done online.

In the assessment, applicants will be given an hour for translations and 30 minutes to about an hour for interpretations.

This job post does not have a set expiration date. Hiring will finish when the company has enough hired.

According to the company, about 150 translators and interpreters are currently working for Coupang and cooperating with global talents from around the world.
