New girl group QWER is set to debut with its single “Harmony from Discord” on Oct. 18, according to content company Tamago Production.
QWER was formed through the “QWER Project,” a YouTube series to unite female online personalities as a girl group. Launched by web content creator Kim-Gyeran’s company Tamago Production, “QWER Project” follows the four members’ incorporation into the group, training, and daily lives. The series premiered with a teaser announcement on July 2 this year, with new episodes updated weekly.
The group garnered attention for being created under Kim Gye-ran, a popular YouTuber in Korea known for his comedic buff persona in Physical Gallery, a fitness entertainment channel subscribed to by more than 3 million viewers.
The group is named after the primary keyboard keys used for online gaming, Q W E and R. Comprised of Chodan (Q), Magenta (W), Hina (E), and Lee Si-yeon (R), the group has amassed a combined following of 10 million followers on social media, in part due to their active online streaming occupations. While simultaneously active on several social media channels, including YouTube and Instagram, Chodan and Magenta became famous through their content on Twitch, Hina for her TikToks and Si-yeon as a previous member of the Japanese idol group NMB48.
The girl group is set to meet with the local press on the day of its debut and answer questions related to its music.
