One taken to hospital, 4 rescued from apartment fire in Seoul

One has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Dorim-dong, Yeongduengpo District, western Seoul, on Monday at around 4:38 a.m.

Fire authorities rescued four residents in the building, and a dozen residents made it out of the building by themselves. One was taken to hospital after losing consciousness due to smoke inhalation.

A total of 85 firefighters and 32 firefighting apparatus, including fire engines, were dispatched to the scene. The fire was extinguished around 7:05 a.m.

Fire authorities suspect a heated electric heating pad caused the fire.
