NewJeans wins Special Achievement Award at Japan Record Awards

Girl group NewJeans [ADOR]

Girl group NewJeans won the Special Achievement Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards on Wednesday.
 
The Japan Record Awards, organized by the Japan Composer's Association, has been held annually since 1959. 
 
This year’s event will take place at the New National Theatre Tokyo on Dec. 30. It will be broadcast live on Japanese broadcasting channel TBS.

The girl group was given the Special Achievement Award alongside Japanese singer ano and groups linked to the music of the Japanese animated series “Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020-present).
 
Its track “Ditto” has also been nominated for Song of the Year.
 
The awards announced Wednesday the 10 nominees for Song of the Year, including NewJeans as the only foreign act on the list. The winner of this category becomes the grand winner of the event.
 
The winner will be announced live on Dec. 30 during the ceremony.
 
Boy band Enhypen was also announced as a winner of the Special International Music Award on the same day.
